Paul Mazarelle
Born in Los Angeles and raised in San Diego, Paul graduated from Humboldt State with a degree in Biology and is currently completing his Masters in Sports Studies at the USSA distance learning program. During his undergraduate work Paul planned to be a science teacher but realized upon graduation his love for the sport of swimming outweighed his desire to teach science. Paul has been coaching all levels of swimming for the last 19 years. Paul’s love for the sport of swimming originated from swimming and surfing at the San Diego beaches as a child and from competing in swimming and water polo in high school. He views swimming as a life-long healthy activity and appreciates the benefits of basic water safety. The positive life skills that will be gained for all those who learn to swim is exponential.

Mark Kamimura
Born in Tokyo Japan, Mark was raised in various countries around the globe. Mark graduated from Skyline High School in Oakland and is currently a nursing student at the University of San Francisco. In his spare time, he volunteers for his church's children's organization. A self taught swimmer, Mark decided to teach children to swim because he strongly believes in keeping children healthy and active. Working in a positive environment is important to him, as is keeping the learning experience a positive one for his students.

Matthew Bishop
Born in Berkeley and raised in Martinez, Matt currently attends Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. Majoring in Physical Education with an emphasis on coaching, he plans on transferring to a 4-year school to complete a Masters degree in Education. In his spare time, Matt is a volunteer for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization and the Special Olympics. Matt began swimming at the age of 4 and began training with the Terrapins in Concord at the age of 11. He was the captain of his high school swim team for all 4 years. Matt has taught kids to swim for several years and plans on becoming a competitive coach someday.

Austin Smythe
Born in Huntington Beach, and raised in multiple parts of California, Austin has an 8 year competitive swimming background. Most recently he competed for the Brigham Young team in Utah for a year. He has also competed nationally for the Concord Terrapins, specializing in Backstroke and Butterfly. Austin likes working with children and has taught swim lessons as well as worked in a daycare facility. The water is a stress-free environment for Austin and he teaches his students to feel the same way. He enjoys being a part of a child's increasing skill level in the pool.
