Angela Mitchell
Born and raised in Albuquerque New Mexico, Angela moved to California to pursue a degree in Social Welfare. Graduating from UC Berkeley with a Masters in Social Welfare, Angela currently works as a private in-home behavioral consultant with children and families that have autism. She has over 10 years experience as an Applied Behavioral Analyst and she teaches part time at AquaTech. Angela loves children and as a therapist, she appreciates the theraputic qualities of the water. Keeping lessons fun and exciting is her specialty and it shows in the progress of her students.

Kayla Banash
Born and raised in Oakland, Kayla will graduate from Humboldt State with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing. Prior to attending Humboldt, Kayla attended Laney College where she played water polo for 2 years. Kayla has been a lifeguard, swim instructor and swim coach since the age of 13. She learned to swim at the age of 6 and competed on summer league teams throughout her youth. Kayla feels strongly that swim lessons for young kids keep them safe and are a great and healthy way to build a community. She loves teaching kids how to swim and receives great joy from being a part of their progression from level to level.

Carey Williams
Born and raised in Detroit Michigan, Carey joined the US Coast Guard and lived on the sea for 2 years. Carey was a swimmer in high school and became a boat rescue swimmer for the Coast Guard. Apart from AquaTech, Carey is a mother of 3 children and a volunteer at their school. Recently, she shaved her head to donate her hair to Locks of Love; a program that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Carey enjoys being able to pass along her love of the sport to all the kids she encounters each week. Currently a manager at AquaTech, Carey ensures our that our staff works in unison to create the best possible environment for our customers.

Christina Lotfy
Born in Delaware and raised in Northern California, Christina graduated from Cal State East Bay with a degree in Business. Apart from AquaTech Christina is a full time mom of 2 young children. From a young age she has loved to swim and believes that every child should learn the basics of being a safe and confident swimmer. Christina enjoys getting to know each child she teaches and feels happy when, with her help, kids advance through the levels. Most rewarding for her is the “light bulb” moment within a child. This is experienced when a skill or drill “clicks” in their mind and they decide they can do something without fear or aid. Christina brings a special value to her work and believes in the importance of what she does.

Kimberly Cornett
Born in San Diego and raised on both the East and West coasts, Kimberly graduated from UC Davis with a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. At a young age, Kimberly learned to swim from one of the sports most affluent athletes, Mark Spitz. She continued her learning and competed on swim teams until she was in high school where she also played Field and Ice Hockey. Kimberly competed for her college swim team for 2 years. After the birth of her son, Kimberly moved into open water training and competition. Besides working at AquaTech, Kimberly is a dedicated mother to her son. She loves to swim, loves to teach and enjoys the social nature of working in the pool. Kimberly believes swimming is one of the few physical activities that help to better a person in every arena of life. It brings her great pleasure to pass this skill along to others.

Stephanie Asuncion
Born and raised in Bakersfield, the Navy ended up bringing Stephanie and her family to Alameda. She has lived on the island for the past 20 years. Stephanie currently attends the College of Alameda pursuing a degree in Business. Apart from AquaTech, she is a wife and mother of 3 children, the bookkeeper for her husband’s company and a volunteer within her church. Stephanie has been working with children in different capacities for many years as a school administrator, teacher and home schooled her own children. Since going through the AquaTech training, Stephanie is wonderfully equip to take her teaching skills into the pool and loves helping children and parents achieve their goals.

Marley Wertheimer
Born in New York City and raised in Northampton Massachusetts, Marley recently relocated to the West Coast. In May of 2009 she graduated from Connecticut College where she double majored in Psychology and German studies. She plans to attend graduate school and study Child Psychology. Apart from working at AquaTech, Marley is a substitute teacher in the Oakland Public Elementary schools. At the age of 10, she began competitively swimming and by the time she reached high school, she became captain of her high school swim team. She was also the Massachusetts State Champ in the 100 Backstroke. Marley taught swimming each summer throughout her high school years. Marley loves being in the pool and loves acclimating children into the aquatic environment. It makes her feel good to know she is helping children become water safe.

Allison Kane
Born and raised in Alameda, Allison graduated from the University of Oregon where she studied Sociology. She was first introduced to the pool at the age of 6 months and has loved the water ever since. Interested in the idea of becoming a teacher, working for AquaTech has provided her with the opportunity to hone her teaching skills. Becoming a swim instructor has allowed Allison the ability to combine her passions of working with children and swimming. She gets both great rewards and great enjoyment from the work she does.Currently a manager at AquaTech, Allison ensures that our staff works in unison to create the best possible environment for our customers.

Aaron Macholl-Stanley
Born in Berkeley and raised in Piedmont, Aaron graduated from Piedmont High School. During high school, Aaron competed for both the swim and water polo teams. With plans to eventually get a job with the California Department of Forestry, he will be taking fire science and EMT courses at Laney College. Aaron has taught swim lessons and been a lifeguard for the past 2 years. He enjoys working with kids and takes pride in their achievements.

Kalie Gadaire

Rachel Kuiken
Born in Washington and raised in the Bay Area, Rachel currently attends Laney college working towards an AA in American Sign Language and and a BA in Liberal Arts. Her eventual goal is to become an Elementary school teacher. Apart from AquaTech, Rachel volunteers for the children’s Sunday school program at her church. She learned to swim when she was in 3rd grade and has been in love with the water ever since. Rachel finds great fulfilment in the work she does and invests herself in each child she works with.

Jai'La Bell
Born and raised in Oakland, Jai'la currently attends USF where she is studying Exercise and Sports Science. She has goals to one day work as a Pediatric Nurse. Jai'la has a passion for working with kids and during her high school years worked as a student teacher for pre-school and kindergarten classes. A recreational swimmer who enjoys being in the pool, she believes in water safety for all ages. Jai'la hopes to make lasting memories for all of her students while at the same time teaching very valuable lessons.

Seonaid Winkle
Born and raised in Oakland, Seonaid cannot imagine ever wanting to leave the Bay Area. Currently she attends Laney College, competing for both the swimming and water polo teams. Seonaid is in the process of getting her EMT license in order to become a Fire Fighter. Seonaid has been swimming her whole life and has competed for summer league teams, been a junior lifeguard and taught many swim lessons. She loves working with kids and helps out with her 3 younger siblings. Teaching swim lessons is rewarding for Seonaid and being around children makes her feel alive. She loves hearing their laughter and joy while she teaches them to swim.

Koreana Sabo
Born in New Jersey and raised in the Bay Area, Koreana graduated from Penn Foster Home School. She currently attends Chabot College and plans to complete a degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on becoming an Elementary School Teacher. She has enjoyed working with children from a young age, babysitting and assisting with her Sunday school programs. Apart from AquaTech, Koreana is a substitute pre-school teacher. Having a passion for the sport of swimming, she decided to couple her passions and strengths and work for AquaTech. Putting the time into children and helping them reach a goal is a rewarding feeling for her.

Dominique Bonilla
Born in Oakland and raised in the Bay Area, Dominique attends Cal State East Bay where she is studying Public Health and Nursing. She is a competitive water polo player, tutor, lifeguard and Junior Lifeguard Instructor for the City of Oakland. Dominique grew up swimming and competed on her first swim team when she was just 4 years old. She has instructed swimmers and lifeguards for the past 5 years. Dominique loves both being in the water and working with children. She finds her job at AquaTech rewarding because she is able to be a part of each child's growth both in and out of the water.
